Achieve a natural youthful looking glow!

Chemical peels are increasingly popular among women and men who want to keep their skin looking healthy and youthful.

Consider a chemical peel a fresh start, removing the damaged outer layers of your skin, allowing it to naturally reform with a glowing appearance.

Chemical peels can offer a revolutionary way to effectively treat aging skin, acne, reduce sun damage and hyper pigmentation. This procedure can also help the skin to appear smoother, healthier and tighter.

Chemical peels may be regarded as the elixir of youth. Typically, a chemical peel will reveal a youthful, vibrant appearance to a previously wrinkled, sun-damaged and blotchy skin.

Peels can be used to:

  • Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth.
  • Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging.
  • Improve the appearance of mild scars.
  • Treat certain types of acne.
  • Reduce age spots, freckles, and dark patches (melasma).
  • Improve the look and feel of skin, naturally.

Chemical peels may be used to treat most skin types, and areas with irregular pigmentation, dry spots, acne, or fine wrinkles.

They may improve the appearance of several problematic skin conditions affecting the face, neck and hands.

Chemical peels fall into three categories: light, medium or deep.

Alpha Hydroxy (AHA) and Beta Hydroxy (BHA) peels are superficial chemical peels, available in various concentrations, brighten and refresh the skin with little to no down-time.

Trichloroacetic acid peels (TCA) are medium-depth chemical peels to treat deeper wrinkles, discolorations and other irregularities of the skin.

What do chemical peels do?

Chemical peeling agents resurface the skin to superficial layers of the skin. As a result, chemical peels promote the growth of a new healthy top skin layer getting rid of skin issues like hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture and skin impurities.

What should I expect during treatment?

Procedures may vary depending on the type of peel. When the chemical solution is applied to the face, sensations include a mild stinging or tingling which is temporary and lasts 3-5 minutes until the peel self neutralizes.

How long is the treatment?

Chemical peels can take from 15 to 45 minutes depending on the solution choisen for your personalized treatment.

How long is the recovery after a chemical peel and what type of care is necessary?

Recovery times will vary based on the type and strength of the peel. Immediately after the peel, your skin will feel tight and may be red. Any visible peeling will be light and fluffy and easily controlled with moisturizer. Peeling usually lasts 3-5 days, depending on the actual peel treatment. Use of gentle cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen is important, as it will enhance the healing process and results. Normal activity may be resumed after the peel, however strenuous exercise and heavy sweating should be avoided for 2-3 days. Sun exposure should be avoided while skin is peeling; exposure of treated skin to a lot of heat should also be avoided as it may induce swelling, redness and for deeper peels blisters under the skin.

How many peels will I need?

It is gerenally recommended to have a series of 3-6 treatments. Chemical peels can be done every 2-3 weeks, until the desired results are achieved.

What can I expect after the 1st 24 hours after the peel?

The state of your skin after a peel depends on the type of chemical used and your skin type. Superficial peels have limited effects. Medium peels may cause some redness and the deeper peels may require 10-14 days to recover.

What are the counterindications to chemical peels?

Chemical peels should be avoided if any of the following conditions are present:

  • Active cold sores, herpes simplex or warts in the area to be treated.
  • Wounded, sunburned or excessively sensitive skin.
  • Accutane use within the last year.
  • History of recent chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
  • Allergies to aspirin.
  • Women who are pregnant or actively breastfeeding.
  • Patients with Vitiligo.
  • Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, lupus, multiple sclerosis etc) or any condition that may weaken their immune system).
When will my skin start to peel and for how long?

Peeling will generally start 48-72 hours after your treatment and can last 2-5 days. It is very important not to pick off peeling skin; peeling is minimal and easily controlled with moisturizer. Premature peeling of the skin will result in dry, cracked, raw skin that may develop into hyperpigmentation.

Why did I not peel after my chemical peel?

The success of a peel is not judged on the amount of peeling. Regardless of the degree of peeling, your skin is still sloughing of at an accelerated rate. This will result in improvement in tone, texture, fine lines & wrinkles and uneven pigment.
