Plasma Rich Platelets (PRP), works by using the person’s own stimulating factors found in platelets to rejuvenate their skin. This allows a progressive improvement in the quality and texture of the skin, restoring vitality to (sun) damaged areas of the face, neck, hands and scalp. It is also used to treat scars and cheloids.
Many hair transplant centers have added PRP to their protocol. Most recommend a total of 3 treatments 1 month apart. Depending on the size of the transplanted zone 1 or 2 vials can be administered at each treatment.
PRP is used to increase the thickness of existing hairs in men and women. It does not create new hairs. For hair loss due to hormones (pattern hair loss) it is most effective when combined with finasteride or minoxidil. In other causes of hair loss such as stress induced (telogen effluvium) or in alopecia areata, PRP can accelerate recuperation times.
It can take 8-12 weeks before the results start to become progressively noticeable.
In most cases 3 sessions at 4-6 week intervals are necessary before maximal results become apparent.
SCHEDULE A CONSULTATIONPlatelet Rich Plasma is used on the face, neck and hands to repair sun damaged or ageing skin by naturally stimulating your own body to regenerate itself.
Plasma Rich Platelets also known as The Vampire Facelift is an ingenious method of using the body’s own growth factors into rejuvenating collagen and other elements of the skin.
The procedure consists of collecting a blood sample from the patient (1 or 2 small vials) and then separating the blood in the vials into red blood cells and plasma. This is done using a centrifuge located in the treatment room .
Once the separation of plasma rich in platelets is obtained, it is injected into the areas of to be treated. The entire procedure and consultation can take approximately 45 min.
SCHEDULE A CONSULTATIONPRP stands for “platelet-rich plasma” – a concentrated version of blood that is rich with healing and growth factors. PRP can be used for “regenerative” injections, in which a patient’s own blood is used to deliver those healing factors directly to injured tissue, in order to decrease pain, heal certain injuries. It also allows progressive improvement in the quality and texture of the skin, restoring vitality to (sun) damaged areas of the face, neck, hands and scalp.
Blood is drawn from the patient and put into a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from the platelet-rich plasma.
The platelet-rich plasma is then transferred into a syringe to be injected into the area of choice.
Platelets’ main function is clotting blood, but platelets also contain numerous molecules that act as “growth factors” – these molecules are essential for healing, restoration and rejuvenation.
The healing process is gradual and can take up to 8 weeks to see desired results. Most people see some improvement within 2-6 weeks.
The entire procedure and consultation can take approximately 45 min.
Most fillers, including Juvederm and Restylane, are composed of solid material which fills skin lines and folds. They often last for short period of time and require repeated treatments to seal the area yet again. On the other hand, PRP fuels collagen growth for absolute facial rejuvenation instead of individual wrinkle enhancement.
While everyone’s pain tolerances vary, patient’s report a range of discomfort from mild to moderate with PRP injections. If you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to use a numbing gel or topical anaesthesia one hour before the procedure.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy helps treat hair loss by stimulating the existing hair follicles to promote new hair growth once again.
It can take 4-8 weeks before the results start to become progressively noticeable.
In most cases 2 -3 sessions at 4-6 week intervals are necessary before maximal results become apparent.
